STARTING OUT

The first crucial step for Wardrum is the release of their debut album “Spadework”. Considering their successful fusion of power metal with unique melodic and prog elements as well as the band members professionalism, focus and high technical skills, it seems that they are strongly willing to put their mark on the new decade’s metal genre.

Wardrum is the newborn art child of Stergios Kourou (also drummer for the Greek progressive metalers "Horizon's End"), who is willing to serve in the best possible way the music he grew up with and still loves deep, Heavy Metal. The line-up completes vocalist Piero Leporale (Uli Jon Roth), guitar virtuoso Kosta Vreto (Horizon's End, x-Vavel), and the bass master Kostas Scandalis (Horizon's End). The "Spadework" recordings took place in several studios, during the Fall of 2010, where they achieved to get the proper sound for their musical statement, while the cover artwork is done by Michal Karcz, from the team of the famous Rainer Kalwitz (Shadow Gallery, century media, massacre, inside out).

“Spadework” offers a powerful metal sound with heavy and fast riffs, super melodic vocal lines, outstanding technical guitar solos and a strong tight rhythm section, all packed together in a solid quality sound production and it can surely please all true metalheads, real fans of Judas Priest, Dio, Sanctuary, Conception and Fates Warning.

Strong songs, like the opening track “The Meaning Of Forever”, the catchy “In Dependence”, the fast “Soultrip”, or the super catchy ballad “Turn About”, can definitely be perfect examples of the skills and the range of Wardrum.

Many describe Stergios Kourou as one of the most talented metal drummers in Greece. It is essential to mention that he is an educated musician and the composer of many songs released under the name of the progressive metal band, Horizon’s End. He joined them back in 1996 and recorded together the albums, "Sculpture On Ice (WMMS 1998)", "Concrete Surreal (SGR 2001)", and also “Intensification (2005)” yet unreleased. Up to now in overall, Stergios recorded 7 albums with several bands whether as a full member or as a session musician in various styles such as Metal, Rock, Pop and Instrumental.


In a parallel course, Stergios also worked with some very popular artists, like guitarist Gus G (Firewind, Ozzy Ozbourne), Michael Boremann (Jaded Heart, Bonfire, Redrum) and performed live in all popular Balkan venues as a headliner, or as an opening act for bands like RONNIE JAMES DIO, PAIN OF SALVATION, CRIMSON GLORY, THERION, U.D.O., PRIMAL FEAR, SABBAT, HEIR APPARENT, SACRED STEEL.

Clean, powerful and extremely versatile, singer of Uli Jon Roth and also the historical voice of the " '60/'70 ROCK BAND " (Deep Purple Tribute), this is Piero Leporale.


In 1995 he did a series of concerts with the " '60/'70 ROCK BAND ", with Ian Paice (drummer of Deep Purple) behind the drum kit, while on 2007 he appeared as a guest star in The UJR Sky Academy, in Los Angeles among Jeff Scott Soto, Mark Boals, Don Dokken a.m.m.


So far he's also been a member of the Rainbow tribute band "Fratucelli's Project" releasing the album "Rainbow Eyes" in 2001, "Space Braidus" a cd recorded in 2004 with Andrea Braido, one of the Greatest guitarist of the Italian musical scene, as a singer as well as a songwriter and also the band "Fil di Ferro", one of the most "historic" Italian metal bands, with whom he recorded in March 2005 the impressive CD "It will be passion".


Piero is also a vocals teacher, based in Torino (IT).

His characteristic nail-picking style, as well as his natural talent and hard work, put Kosta Vreto high on the list of the up and coming guitar heroes. Almost ready to release his second personal album, Kosta has a pretty busy background that starts since the age of 18. The auditions he's been through up to now, gave him the guitarists job for legends such as Uli Jon Roth (Scorpions), Paul DiAnno (Iron Maiden) and local heroes like Horizon's End, Vavel, Long Live that granted a huge experience on live performances and studio recordings.


His debut "Skin On Strings" released in 2008, unfolded clearly his compositional abilities along with his already known technical skills and gave him the opportunity to work with/for companies such as Lace Music Products, Telegun Amps, Bulk strings and do some jam/signing sessions for Lace in the Francfurt Musik messe 2008.

Grown up deep into the sounds of the 70's prog rock bands such as Styx, Rush, Uriah Heep, it was a natural evolution for Kostas Scandalis to deal with music as a player and composer. He passed through many bands and gained experience in several music styles while in 1998 he joined the Greek progsters Horizon's End and recorded the albums "Concrete Surreal (SGR 2001)" and "Intensification (2005)" yet unreleased, while shared the stage as an opening act with legends like RONNIE JAMES DIO, PAIN OF SALVATION, PRIMAL FEAR, SABBAT, HEIR APPARENT, SACRED STEEL a.m.m.


Kostas also deals with the sound production and he 's working for Arkeyn Steel Records, trying to give the right touch on the labels characteristic era releases and re-releases.
