Le groupe de Thrash Metal américain Gwar a déclaré qu'ils commençaient à travailler sur leur nouvel album.
"Vu que la plaie du groupe est salée (le groupe a perdu son guitariste le 3 novembre), GWAR travaille en permanence sur de nouvelles chansons. Ce qui est différent aujourd'hui, c'est que la bande a son propre studio d'enregistrement maison / espace de Jam, donc tout ce qu'ils font est suivi. Il n'ya pas de date de sortie, pas de détails sanglants mais rassurez-vous d'une chose ... GWAR travaille sur un nouvel album, et il sera un hommage à leur frère perdu Scumdog, Flattus Maximus!"
Le guitariste de Gwar, Flattus Maximus (Cory Smoot) a été retrouvé mort aujourd'hui même. Pour l'instant les causes de son décès ne sont pas connus.
Le chanteur emblématique du groupe, Oderus Urungus (Dave Brockie) a publié le communiqué suivant:
"It is with a sense of profound loss and tragedy that the members of GWAR must announce the passing of their longtime guitarist and beloved friend Cory Smoot, also known to thousands of metal fans worldwide as Flattus Maximus. Cory was found deceased this morning as the band prepared for a border crossing. There is no word as to the cause of death and the members of GWAR are completely shocked and devastated that this has occurred. At this point there is no word on arrangements and the disposition of the remainder of GWAR's current North American tour, nor are there any details regarding long-term plans. At this point we are just dealing with the loss of our dear friend and brother, one of the most talented guitar players in metal today. We ask that our fans and the media be respectful of our request for privacy for those that have suffered this terrible loss. A full statement will be coming in the next day or so, in the meantime please give your thoughts and your prayers to Cory, his family, and all the people that love him."
"Bloody Pit Of Horror", le dernier album en date de Gwar, s'est écoulé à plus de 2800 copies lors de sa première semaine de sortie aux USA.
L'opus précédent, "Lust in Space", s'était écoulé à presque deux fois plus (5000 unités), apparaissant à la 96e place du Billboard.

Fangoria vient d'annoncer qu'ils travailleront bientôt sur la prochaine vidéo de Gwar, "Zombies, March!". Ce sera le premier clip issu du nouvel album, "Gwar's Bloody Pit of Horror", qui sortira le 9 novembre via Metal Blade.
La vidéo sera shootée à Richmond, en Virginie, durant septembre et octobre, et sera dirigé par David McKendry.

Vague de départs, il faut croire : c'est Todd Evans "Beefcake the Mighty" (M. Muscles le tout puissant) qui quitte le groupe américain Gwar (sisi, ceux encore plus rigolos que Lordi) après 5 ans de bons et loyaux et services.
Le "Gwarior" le plus intimidant s'en retourne en effet à son instrument de prédilection, quittant la basse pour s'adonner complètement à son autre groupe Mobile Death Camp en tant que guitariste.
