Joe Duplantier est le chanteur-guitariste de Gojira. Il est également responsable des textes et des artworks de ses albums.
Il a de plus fait partie d'Empalot et de Cavalera Conspiracy, groupe dans lequel il était bassiste aux côtés des frères Cavalera.
Joe se dit très influencé par Morbid Angel et surtout Metallica.

Son frère Mario Duplantier est le batteur de Gojira.
